Cultural Heritage: Industry, History and Future

The aim of the Erasmus+ project Industrial Heritage: Industry, History and Future, 2018- 2020  is to encourage students to discover and deal with the industrial heritage and to strengthen their sense of belonging to a common European area.

Industrial heritage plays an important role not only in their own environment, but also in places far from their place of residence. This awareness leads to an European awareness. With differentt activities, series of events and exchanges the project aims to enable the students to comment on and become more involved with their heritage.

Cultural and industrial heritage has a universal value for us as individuals and as members of a community. It is important to preserve it and pass it on to future generations. The student can consider heritage as ‘from the past’ or static, but it actually evolves along with us. In addition, our heritage had and has a major role to play in building Europe’s future. And our students are the future. That is one of the reasons why we iwould like to involve the students in this project.

The project wants to increase the awareness of the students’ surroudings, the history of their cities, their countries and of other European countries too.

The project is based on the history of industrial heritage from the cities and surrondings of Hengenlo (Netherlands), Terrassa (Spain), Gliwice (Poland) and Delitzsch (Germany).

We want to create a website, an app, and a magazine for students, schools, residents, and tourists. So that a large audience can be reached. Of course we also use the different media such as newspapers and local/regional broadcasters.
